( The first image on the screen when it lights up with activity is the ever-gazing, wide eyes of a relatively expressionless Espurr. It's definitely unsettling. As the frame pans out, one can see Levi in the background—seated on a couch—and it becomes obvious that the aforementioned Espurr is the one who's not only turned on Levi's PokéGear, but is moving it as well.

A beeping from the device is what gets Levi's attention; Espurr is silent, something he's thankful for, although that only gives the Pokémon more unwarranted freedom. An impatient 'tch' is heard as Levi gets up from his spot and closes in on the frame to lift the device and take it into his own hands. His brow is furrowed, and he's about to shut off the feed before he realizes 'Well, this is as good an opportunity as any to take advantage of an audience.' ) Oi.

This one's fucked up. ( He gestures to the Espurr—still endlessly gazing, although its wide eyes have now focused on Levi, who'd stolen its toy. Who even does that? How do you know Espurr didn't have important shit to say?

Levi's expression, when he turns back to the camera, is a cross between a grimace and a sneer. ) It doesn't make any noise. It doesn't fucking blink. It just looks like this, all the time. Is this shit normal?

( After a second, Levi makes a sound like a sigh. ) But then it gets up to shit like this when I'm not looking. My other one doesn't do that. Is it bored? Am I not feeding it enough? Fuck.

( Narrowing his eyes a bit, Levi glances at the Espurr once more, then back at the camera as he holds his finger on the 'END' button. )

It's creepy as hell. ( Another 'tch' sound, then the feed shuts off. )

Sure, Bertolt knew he should be lucky to find another person from his world but he didn't expect it to be him. [His own Espurr is sitting on his lap as he responds from a sofa in a Pokemon center somewhere, staring intently at the screen of the Gear as all Espurrs do.]

It's seen the future, and that future is the cosmic suffering of millions.

It has seen these things, but it cannot tell you anything that could lessen its burden. For to do so would be to plague you with something so great and terrible that to hear a single breath, a mere suggestion, of its screaming will toss you with leaden weights into a roiling sea of despair.

And so it stares. Waiting for something beautiful enough to make it forget.

They're all different. Maybe it wanted to have a staring contest with the network or something, who knows.

[Korra, you're not very helpful.]

[ At this point, Levi had hardly expected to encounter anyone even vaguely familiar to him--because of that, it takes him an extra moment to register Bertolt's identity. Once he does, however, his eyes narrow slightly. Is he accusing? Annoyed? Confused? Who the fuck knows!! ]

[ oh. Yeah, he knows. Granted, he was only present for the aftermath, but it doesn't take him too much Sherlockian investigation to manage the process of elimination. That said, he's not angry ~~just disappointed~~. Not visibly so, at the very least. This shit is complicated; more complicated than he'd like to admit, and their present arrangement and location in Poke-land is enough to momentarily halt a great deal of his displeasure. ]

--I've learned as much. Still, I thought there'd be some overlap in the same species.

[ squint. ]

[ Levi seems momentarily intrigued, at least, in that someone else has the same species of creature. Good. Maybe.

Cecil's words, though, make Levi frown immensely. He narrows his eyes with conviction. ]

That seems pretty elaborate for what's essentially a terrifying house cat. [ levi u dont know shit stop pretending ]

[ Hm. Hmm. He watches her for a few seconds, skeptical, before before responding. ]

It's possible. Sometimes they open a video on purpose, sometimes it's.... proooobably accidental.

[Wow, did you want a clear answer to that? Who even knows about how pokemon think.

.... Yeah, this is pretty par for the course regarding Espurr's. It probably just wanted attention but the usual kind of creepy staring forever didn't get anything, so this is about as much acting up as it wanted.

That's just my guess though.

It's a psychic type, some of them kind of stare a lot in general. It's also an intelligent -- [paaaaaaause. ... that's actually questionable, isn't it, if that just keeps staring...] creature, and "accidental" post to the network by any pokemon aren't exactly a rare thing.

I've never actually had a psychic myself, but yup, at least that's what I've heard. And that they also use telepathy to speak to you and others.

I caught mine when he fell out of the sky. It's always been easy for me to tell what he's been feeling....but Garry has trouble.

[She can see a theme here as soon as she sees the other cat. Nothing wrong with that theme, but there might be a little amused grin on Korra's face for a moment.] So, you have two cats with different personalities making faces at you.

[... errrrrrr, well just one face in Espurrs case, but you get the point when Purrloins look so devilish and Espurrs look... creepy.]

It should be able to, yeah. [FROWNING.] You both need to work on that, it's about team work. It -- and maybe you should check the gender instead of calling it it -- is not going to start talking with you if you're just calling it creepy as hell.

[OR IT MIGHT, but you know, that's not a very good start for a conversation with the Espurr anyway. Also, do you want pokemon to use as many fucks and shits in its speak as you do? Maybe not.]

Bertolt scratches the Tyrantrum under the chin, toying with the scruffy beard that fluffs out at the end. Maybe he'll have to try grooming this guy one of these days to see if it'll always be scruffy like this... Either way, it's a really good distraction and it calms him down enough to get his voice under control. He's far, far away from Levi (or so he hopes), so he's safe.

Purrloin has many questions... ]
